Maintenance & Upgrades¶
Servala keeps your service instances up to date and healthy as part of the managed service. This page describes how maintenance and version upgrades work in general. Service-specific behavior is documented on the relevant page in the Service Catalog.
What maintenance covers¶
- Security patches: applied to keep instances secure.
- Minor version updates: minor and patch-level software updates are applied automatically as part of the service.
- Infrastructure maintenance: updates to the underlying platform and worker clusters.
Version upgrades¶
Major version upgrades (for example moving a database to a new major release) are treated separately from routine patching:
- They are coordinated and typically require an explicit action or confirmation.
- They can introduce behavior changes, so review the upstream release notes for the service before upgrading.
- Availability and the exact upgrade path depend on the service and offering.
Maintenance windows¶
Maintenance that may cause a short interruption is performed within a maintenance window to limit the impact on your workloads.
High availability¶
Instances provisioned with a high-availability offering reduce the impact of maintenance, as updates can be rolled out without full downtime. Availability depends on the chosen offering and compute plan. See Compute Plans & SLAs.
