PersistentVolumeExpectedToFillUp

Severity critical
Fires when Less than 15% storage is free, and the volume will be full within 4 days at the current rate, for 1 hour

What it means

Less than 15% of the storage is free, and the data grows so fast that the volume will be full within 4 days. The platform calculates this from the growth of the last 6 hours. The condition has lasted for 1 hour.

What happens if you do nothing

The volume gets full, and PersistentVolumeFillingUp fires. A full volume can stop the service. You still have some time to act.

What to do

  1. Check the current storage usage. Open the Technical Details on the instance detail page. The Usage column in the Persistent Volumes table shows how much space is used. See Monitor an Instance.
  2. Find out why the data grows. Is the growth expected (for example a data import or a migration), or is it a surprise (for example a table or a log that grows without limit)?
  3. If the growth is expected, increase the storage size. Choose a size with room for the coming months. See Increase the storage size.
  4. If the growth is not expected, stop the cause and remove data you do not need. See the steps for your service below.
  5. If the growth was short and has stopped (for example a one-time import), the alert goes away by itself when the prediction no longer shows a full volume. You can mute the alert until then.
