PersistentVolumeExpectedToFillUp (PostgreSQL)¶
| Severity | critical |
| Fires when | Less than 15% storage is free, and the volume will be full within 4 days at the current rate, for 1 hour |
| General runbook | PersistentVolumeExpectedToFillUp |
Follow the steps in the general runbook first. This page adds the steps for PostgreSQL.
Find the cause of the growth¶
- Check which databases and tables grow. See Free up storage. Run the queries again after some hours and compare the results.
- Check if write-ahead log (WAL) files grow, because a replication slot keeps them. See Check replication slots.
- Check for long running transactions. They stop
VACUUMfrom cleaning up, so tables grow even when you delete data. See PostgreSQLLongRunningTransaction.
Then remove the data you do not need. See Free up storage.
